James Cropper, CMLJ

We are pleased to announce that James Cropper, Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria, has been made a Knight Commander (KCVO) of the Royal Victorian Order in the Queen’s New Year's Honours 2011. James has been an honorary member of Cumbria Commandery within The Military and Hospitaller Order of St. Lazarus for a number of years being a Commander in the Companionate of Merit (CMLJ).The Royal Victorian Order was founded in April 1896 by Queen Victoria as a way of rewarding personal service to her, on her own initiative rather than by ministerial recommendation. The Order is entirely within the Sovereign’s personal gift and we send James our congratulations and very best wishes on receiving this new accolade.
