The Commandery of Wales is based at Newman Hall. The members of the Commandery who are Fellows of the Hall were invited to the dinner. These included the Senior Fellows, Chevalier Dr David Woolf KCLJ (Commander) and Chevalier Anthony Jeremey KCLJ (Chancellor); and the Fellows, Confrères Haydn Rees CLJ (Marshal), Neil Buffin CLJ (Secretary), Craig Williams CLJ (Hospitaller), Jeffrey Morgan CLJ, Rhys Jenkins OLJ (Deputy-Marshal), Mr Daniel Morris CMLJ, Dr Alison Woolf OMLJ and Mrs Eileen Jones MMLJ.

The guest of honour was His Excellency the Chevalier Gareth Vaughan GCLJ, Secretary-General of the Grand Priory of England & Wales. The Very Revd Dr Sebastian Jones SChLJ, Joint Commandery Chaplain, Superior of the Cardiff Oratory and Dean of Newman Hall, surprised His Excellency by conferring upon him a Fellowship of Newman Hall. The citation recorded Gareth’s work for the Order of St Lazarus, both at the national and international level, with particular emphasis on his great efforts during the process that led to the reunification of the Paris and Malta obediences.
The Revd Fr Alexander Gee MMLJ, Warden of Newman Hall, was made a Senior Fellow and invested with the insignia of the Archconfraternity of the Five Sacred Wounds.
The 75th birthday of Confrère Jeffrey Morgan CLJ was also celebrated at the end of the evening with a magnificent firework display in the grounds of Newman Hall.
