House of Lords dinner – November 2016

Over 70 members and guests gathered in the prestigious surroundings of the Cholmondeley Room of the House of Lords on the evening of 14 November for a charity dinner, hosted by our Grand Prior, the Marquis of Lothian.   Every Commandery was represented, and we were pleased to be able to welcome guests from farther afield, including Chev. Lars Sahlin KCLJ, the Chair of the International Public Relations Committee, and his wife Irene, who had travelled from Sweden to join the festivities.

Despite the chilly autumn weather, pre-dinner drinks were enjoyed on the Lords’ Terrace, with its spectacular views across the Thames, before everyone sat down to a delicious  3 course meal, served by the House staff.

Animated conversation continued late into the evening, as old friendships were revived and new ones made.  The Grand Prior summed up the thoughts of all those present when he thanked the organising team, led by our Chancellor, Chev. Norman Hunter Rose KCLJ, for ‘a most enjoyable evening.’

The evening raised the sum of £1,000 for the St Lazarus Charitable Trust.
