FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS about Shop Online and Raise Funds
• Is it worth it?
The person that set up the links for us has been using it for four weeks for online shopping and searching. During that time he has accumulated 60p from searching and about £13 from shopping in the best places. If one person can achieve that in two weeks, multiply that by 500 members over one year and you will see that we can make a considerable difference to our charities at no cost to ourselves.
• Does my shop take part in the scheme?
There are over 2,000 business taking part, from bookshops to major stores and even train and holiday bookings. Both sites have a list of retailers where you can search by name, alphabetically or by category. Why not spend some time looking through the options – you will be surprised at what you find!
• Why the Foundation and not the Trust?
It is because we are now working “as one” and it is not cost effective to register both charities for the scheme. The main point is that we are supporting leprosy in this way.
• Why two options to buy from?
Because easygiving and the giving machine offer different commissions, even though it may be from the same store. If members are keen to maximise the donation that we receive, it is worth comparing the two. If you are purchasing a £7 DVD then obviously the difference is not going to be great, but if you are buying a £500 TV then the difference between 1% and 3%, for example, is considerable
