Annual service of celebration - Commandery of Cumbria

The members of the Commandery of Cumbria met at St Patrick's Church, Preston Patrick on Saturday 20th April 2024, for the Commandery Annual Church Service of Celebration and Renewal of Knightly Vows, in the presence of The Grand Prior, the Most Honourable the Marquis of Lothian PC GCLJ GCMLJ KC DL, and the Bailiff The Chevalier Dr David Woolf KCLJ OMLJ. Also present were members from the Commanderies of John of Gaunt, King Offa, The Marches, Wales and members of the Grand Bailiwick of Scotland.

The service was led by the Commandery Senior Chaplain, the Reverend Canon Andrew Horsfall SChLJ, assisted by the Reverend Colin McAulay SChLJ and Reverend Sandy MacDonald SChLJ. The Preacher was the Venerable David Picken MA, Archdeacon of Lancaster, who gave a very inspirational sermon. During the service, the Grand Prior presented Chevalier John Dugdale KLJ with his Silver Medal of Merit insignia.

After the service, a banquet was held in the nearby Crooklands Hotel, where the Commander, Chevalier Dr David Knox KLJ OMLJ presented Mr Michael Hardie of the Leprosy Mission with a cheque for the Rainbow Children's Home in India.
