Commandery of Wales Festal Dinner

On the evening of 13 May, Craig Williams KLJ (Hospitaller) organised a wonderful festal dinner for the Order of St Lazarus, Commandery of Wales at the Cardiff & County Club.

The guest of honour was His Grace the Archbishop of Cardiff & Bishop of Menevia, the Most Rev’d Mark O’Toole.  Captain Sir Norman Lloyd-Edwards KCVO, GCStJ, KCVO, GOMLJ proposed the loyal toast.  His Excellency Mr Justice Bernard Barton GCLJ, Grand Prior Emeritus and Bailiff of Ireland, proposed the toast to the Commandery of Wales.

The Commander of Wales and Bailiff-Elect of the Grand Priory of England & Wales, Dr David Woolf KCLJ, replied.  Dr Woolf thanked the members of the Commandery for their great generosity in supporting a number of hospitaller appeals launched this year, in particular the Aid to the Church in Need emergency appeal following the Syrian earthquake and the Grand Prior’s World Leprosy Day appeal for the Leprosy Mission leprosarium in Ethiopia.  The on-going telemedicine work continues in Samburu, Kenya, with great success.  Likewise the medical student elective bursary programme and our support for a number of military veterans’ charities.
