The King Offa Commandery Carol Service was held on Advent Sunday. It was a great success and a very happy occasion with over 70 attendees. It was held at the ancient church of St Mary Magdalene in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. The Commandery was honoured to have Mr Ed Attenborough, the High Sheriff of Nottinghamshire, with us.
During the service, a processional cross of the Order was dedicated to the memory of our late Commander Emeritus Chevalier John Anthony Reid KCLJ. A substantial charitable donation was made on behalf of the Commandery to Mrs Sue Wells CMLJ of the Nepal Leprosy Trust. Several Civic Leaders honoured us with their presence along with members of the Order and friends.
Those supporting this event kindly donated many hundreds of pairs of warm winter socks to again support homeless people.
