National Service of Investiture Autumn 2022

The Grand Priory of England and Wales' Service of Investiture was held on Saturday 22nd October 2022, at the Cathedral Church of St Peter, Lancaster. At 3.30pm, the procession entered the Cathedral to the splendid organ voluntary ‘Toccata in B minor by Eugène Gigout.

The service was led by The Reverend Canon Brendan Clover SChLJ, MMLJ who was introduced as the new Chaplain-General of the Grand Priory during the Investiture. The Preacher was The Rt Revd Glyn Webster, Former Bishop of Beverley, who deliver an inspired sermon. The Investing Officer was The

Grand Prior of England and Wales, The Most Honourable the Marquis of Lothian PC, GCLJ, GCMLJ, KC, DL assisted by The Bailiff His Excellency, the Chevalier Charles Holloway GCLJ, KMLJ, in the presence of The Grand Commander of the Order, His Excellency the Chevalier Edward B. White GCLJ.

Music was provided by the ladies of Lancaster Cathedral Choir under the direction of Director of Music & Organist Damian Howard. The choral music in the service included the Motet 'Ave Maria' by Camille Saint-Saens. The service was held by permission of The Dean, The Revd Fr Stephen Pearson.

Postulants were invested and well deserved promotions and awards were presented. It was a splendid occasion where members and friends of the Order of Lazarus came together and worshipped.

The Investiture was followed by dinner in The Dalton Suite at The Lancaster House Hotel.
