Visit to the Old Bailey – Commandery of London & Westminster

Members and friends of the Commandery of London & Westminster were honoured to be invited for a private tour of the Old Bailey on 20 June, hosted by Sheriff Andrew Marsden KLJ, one of the newer members of the Commandery.

Sheriff Andrew entertained us with tales of life at the Bailey, both throughout its history and in modern times, before taking us on a personally escorted tour of the famous building.  Several members of the party ended up standing in the dock of the infamous Number One Court, though we are pleased to report that all were released without charge, in time to join the rest of the party for a drinks reception in the magnificent Great Hall.

Charitable donations were made to the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund and to the St Lazarus Charitable Trust, and we are most grateful to Sheriff Andrew for his generous invitation.
