We'll meet again - King Offa Commandery

In anticipation of the 80th Anniversary of VE Day, King Offa Commandery held a ‘We’ll meet again’ musical evening with celebratory dinner at Cleve Lodge, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. They were honoured to have Col Hile, Deputy Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire present as well as Cllr Mr Harry Atkinson - the Deputy

Mayor of the Borough of Erewash, Cllr Richard Butler - Chairman of Nottinghamshire County Council, His Worship Cllr Andy Brown - Mayor of Rushcliffe with consort Mrs Sylvia Brown, Cllr Mrs Linda Tift - Vice-Chairman of Newark and Sherwood District Council, accompanied by Cllr Mrs Celia Brooks.

Soloists included Dr Andrew Halfpenny who sang ‘A Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square’, Miss Rosie Poffley OMLJ sang

‘There’ll always be an England’ and Mrs Pearl Day OMLJ sang ‘When the lights go on again all over the world’. Those present enjoyed a delicious wartime meal. A lovely entertaining evening in good company with plenty of singing that raised valuable funds for Leprosy Charities.
