Meeting of International Chapter General, Madrid

There will be a meeting of the Chapter General of the Order in Madrid on Saturday May 05, 2018 at 11.00 to elect the 50th Grand Master of the Order.  There is only one candidate, HE Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg GCLJ.  In accordance with the Constitution, Don Francisco became Interim Grand Master of the Order on the death of the 49th Grand Master in August 2017.   The meeting will be held in the Hotel Meliá Madrid Serrano. 

This will be followed by the Installation of the new Grand Master at 16.00 the same day in the Monasterio de Santo Domingo el Real.  In the evening at 19.00 a reception will be held in the Hotel Meliá Madrid Serrano.

 Commemorative Medal for the Installation of the 50th Grand Master of the Order

At its last meeting the Governing Council of the Grand Priory of Spain of the Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem approved the striking of a Commemorative Medal commemorating the meeting of the Chapter General of the Order on May 5 in Madrid and the election of a new Grand Master. It was commissioned and approved by the Judge of Arms of the Grand Priory, Chev. Dr. Don José María de Montells based on a design created by Mr. Fernando Martínez Larrañaga.

A circular medal has been struck with the arms of the new Grand Master, HE Don Francisco de Borbón Graf von Hardenberg GCLJ, on the obverse and the inscription Proclamation of 50th Grand Master. Madrid, May 2018 on the reverse, suspended from a green ribbon.  

The medal in its case with its miniature, both with ribbons, and a certificate of commemoration and authenticity costs €150.  Interested members of the Order, and those who do not belong to the Order but wish to commemorate this significant event,
