Service of Celebration & Renewal of Knightly Vows - The Marches

The Commander, Chevalier Alan Howls, invites you to the Annual Service of Celebration & Renewal of Knightly Vows at St. Mary the Virgin’s Church, Bromfield, near Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 2JP. Commandery members are requested to attend and others are most welcome. We will also welcome a group from King Offa Commandery.

Opening and welcome will be given by the Vicar of St. Mary the Virgin’s Church, our own Chaplain the Reverend Fr. Justin Parker ChLJ. The Service will be led by the Senior Chaplain, the Reverend Prebendary Edward Ward SChLJ.

Afterwards, there will be a Celebratory Formal Meal at The Clive Arms Hotel, Bromfield, near Ludlow, Shropshire SY8 2JR.

TIMETABLE

14.30      Marshal’s Rehearsal for those with a role in the service.

14.45      A rehearsal of the procession will be held

15.00      Those not in the Procession to be seated.

15.10      The procession will be formed by the Deputy Marshal

15.15      Service of Celebration & Renewal of Vows. A collection will be taken during the Service, and donated to Church Funds.

16.30      Pre-Drinks and social get together at The Clive Arms Hotel, Bromfield.

17.30      Celebratory Formal Meal at The Clive Arms Hotel, Bromfield. Cost £25.00. A draw will be held during the evening for the St.Lazarus Charitable Trust, for which donations of prizes will be most welcome.

DRESS CODE

For the Service

Knights & Confreres:      Uniform of the Order/Morning Suit/Highland Dress/Military Uniform or a Dark Lounge Suit with the Tie of the Order or a Dark Tie.

Dames & Consoeurs:      Black formal dress of three-quarter length or longer, with sleeves. Mantilla, peineta and black gloves may be worn.

All Members:                  Church Mantle and Full-Size Insignia.

Companionates & Guests:  Suitable formal day dress. Companionates  - Full Size Insignia of the Order.

For the Meal:                  As for the Church Service, except Mantle.

There is limited parking to the front of St. Mary the Virgin’s Church and additional parking in front of buildings 40 yards further on to the left. Plenty of parking at The Clive Arms Hotel which is only 200 yards from the Church across the main A49.
