A further donation to the Grand Priory’s Lebanon Appeal was received towards the end of October from Ethan Bradley MLJ, a member of Mersey Commandery, currently living and working in Singapore. Ethan completed a sponsored walk of the island (113.7km or 70.65 miles) and raised £912, which the Trust will make up to £1,000. The Cumbria Commandery held its Annual Church Service of Celebration & Renewal of Knightly Vows on Saturday 7th March in the Parish Church of St Michael and All The Angels, Beetham.

The Service was led by our Commandery Chaplain, The Reverend Canon Andrew Horsfall ChLJ, and we welcomed as our preacher The Reverend Fr. Robin Nash OStJ, ChLJ, SSC, the Commandery Chaplain of our sister Commandery of Rose d’Or in Hampshire. During the service the organ accompaniment was played by Mr Charles Edmondson.

The Governance Working Committee of the Order communicates with great sorrow and pain the passing away of Her Excellency Mrs. Cristina Elena de Borbón von Hardenberg, Dame Grand Cross of Justice of The Military and Hospitaller Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem, sister of the L Grand Master and daughter of the Grand Master Emeritus, His Excellency the Duke of Seville.

Cristina was 44 years old, she was devoted to the Order and participated in several activities and events in Marbella and Madrid. She was a brilliant student and entrepreneur who developed her own catering business....

On the evening of Saturday 4th January 2020, members of the Commandery of Wales joined the parishioners of the Russian Orthodox parish of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, at the University Church at Nazareth House/Newman Hall.  The Commandery of Wales and the Russian Orthodox parish share the facilities at Nazareth House generously provided by the Sisters of Nazareth and the Cardiff Oratorian community.

Members of the Commandery of Wales took part in the Cardiff University Carol Service in the University Church, Nazareth House, on Monday 9th December 2019.  Fr Sebastian Jones SChLJ presided, Chevalier Dr David Woolf KCLJ (Commander) and Chevalier Anthony Jeremy KCLJ (Chancellor) read two of the lessons.  Half of the retiring collection was given to the Commandery to help support its annual medical student elective bursary programme.

King Offa Commandery attended the ‘Strictly Come Ballroom Gala 2019’, arranged by Lepra, which we work with and support. It took place on Saturday 21st December 2019 at The Regency Dance Centre in Sutton in Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. A fun evening during which the Order of St Lazarus presented a significant cheque to Lepra. Chevalier Peter Whalley KLJ, was one of the Judges. A lovely collaborative evening in the ongoing fight against the Leprosy.
